Around the world with Lego

Saturday July 19, 2013

If you could travel anywhere... where would you go?

Within the Lego show, I got the chance to travel around the world.... through the eyes of some pretty fantastic creations.

Hop aboard...

How about the Orient? With it's beautiful gardens...

I could easily picture myself stitching here... or enjoying some chocolate.
Or how about a castle by the sea?

Amazing detail inside too...

Not quite right?
How about this one...

7,000 pieces
80 hours to build

that's all?

Not big enough...ok... got that covered...
off to Scotland

(complete with a giant, lol)
based on a real castle called Caerlaverock

some of the detail inside this one...

Ok, so you want more land with your castle?
Got that covered too..
of course...

And look - this one's even got a dragon!

And another dragon...

I love how they used the Lego to make it look like it's breathing fire!

Can't imagine how long this took to build....
how they transported it...
how long it took to set it up again.

So, castle not your thing?
Something warmer?
With Palm trees?

Check this out.

Even the water was Lego pieces....

hmmm... want to go higher?

Perhaps a livelier building is what you seek...

Maybe you'd like to travel back in time to the Vikings?

Complete with an electric boat that circled the village.
In case you were wondering what's inside the buildings...

Returning to the present...

Why yes - that's indeed Mississauga's City Hall
didn't see hazel though...

Take a tour of the city...

High speed train...

There's even minifig people inside the buildings...

Pretty incredible tour.
Think that was out of this world?

You ain't seen nuttin yet....

but that's another story....

Chew on this

Friday July 19, 2013

My son walks and talks Lego. He lives for Lego. He's probably dreaming of Lego as I write this.... if it wasn't for his going to bed delay tactics... yes mom, just 'cleaning up' the Lego.....

If he could eat the stuff... well, life would be perfect.

There was food at the Lego show... but not of the edible sort.. well, unless you're into plastic...

and this....

poutine.
yeah
ok...

Well, if you can't eat it... maybe you can build it to help you eat...

Sadly, I don't have the counter space for this contraption.

Now if only I could inspire my son to invent a Lego room cleaner.

One that doesn't take an hour to
GET TO BED!

Lego Decor

Thursday July 18, 2013

My son is a bit of a Lego fanatic. If he had his way our whole house would be made of Lego.

Found some interesting home decor ideas at the Lego show... there really is something for everyone.

How about a stained glass look for the windows?

perfect for the kids room...

a nice lamp to stitch with ...

... the perfect pet

a fish tank that never needs cleaning or feeding...

How about a family portrait on the wall

That's a two-in-one deal... pretty cool!

Or have your favourite artwork recreated into Lego...

Lego! No!

Or if you really want to freak someone out...

Heck you could even redo the office

Into music... got that covered
(these 3 were about the size of a vinyl LP cover)

this one was considerably larger

gorgeous colour

Something a little more modern...

yes... even furniture

would I really keep bread in here though?

This mosaic was HUGE

for the sports fan

Another huge piece... perfect teacher gift

Mickey fans...

I'd love to stitch this...

some cool signs

Inspired?

Endless possibilities with Lego.
But would it sustain you?

that's another story...
