Ballad of the Lindt bear

Thursday, January 9, 2013

Oh joy is me - I am a bear.
With gold like coat - why do you stare?
I had a bell, 'tis gone somewhere....

Twas just last night I had a thought:
Just after when you had me bought,
Was just my company that you sought?

Or is there but some greater deed.
A secret, deep dark craving need?
The truth it seems,  appears indeed.

Why dost thou drool when looking at me?
There's something else that just might be.
A hiding spot I do not see.

Alas the truth, it rears it head.
Or rather, 'bottoms' up me thinks, instead,
I thought we'd just be snuggled in bed.

But no - you quickly took a bite
I really could not put up a fight.
Would I be like this all through the night?

Oh, but of course, you could not stop.
You would not, should not, could not let me drop
Not Until you get right to the top?

But now I lay here all in pieces,
What started slow, indeed decreases.
With chocolate it seems she never ceases.

I gave you joy and made you smile
I didn't really last a longest while
But a Lindt bear

 - it really is your style.

A new year... a new stitcher :)

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

I think I must have been transported to an alternate universe.

You know - the one where your husband starts to leaf through your cross stitch magazine you just got for Christmas. The one where your son gives you a present he stitched himself...

Yes, my soon to be 12 year old son stitched this.
Mostly all by himself.

It seems he has my creative gene... he decided to change a few things on the pattern,
changed the butterfly a bit,
added a sun,
and then he added the I Love U at the bottom.

A budding designer?

Well, that's not the end of the story.

After completing this one he wanted to start another.
So he picked a few kits from a pile I was thinking of getting rid of.

He now has his own stash.
Even a bag of floss, and a threader.

So here's the kit he picked to start on

a close-up of the first row...wow

his progress last night:

and here's where he got tonight:

Today he was asking if he could add beads.
He'd like to replace the door handle with a bead in this one,
and use beads for the word as well.

He knows how to start and anchor the threads too.

Back to bedtime... and here's how our conversation went:

James, it's bedtime.

But can't I stay up and stitch?

No, you need to get some sleep.

Awww... can't I just finish this colour I'm on?

Earlier he said he wanted to race me to see who would finish their project first.

uh-huh

lol

I can just imagine the next time I want to go away on a stitch retreat...
let's not think about that...

hmmmm... maybe I need to go hide my stash with the chocolate...

... should I tell him about Kreiniks?

:)
