Space.
The final frontier.
These are the voyages of the star ship stitch-a-lot. To boldly sit and stitch where probably no one has before. With reason.
I take you back. Hours earlier. Today.
Target: birthday party.
Location: Laser Quest.
Mission: Should you choose to accept this insane task, your goal will be to find a quiet corner, sit and stitch whilst young aliens run around trying to conquer the world.
Now I have stitched in some interesting places before... but I think today took the cake. Yes, I was at Laser Quest. Yes, I was the crazy woman trying to stitch by the window, among a room of loud roaming , nay dare I say screaming two legged whippersnappers, with a few hobbledehoy thrown in. (now there's a word of the day).
Can you picture this? Really? I mean, who in their right mind would even think of taking along some stitching to such a place. ummm....me? I was wondering about those two men in lab coats at the door.
I did stitch for a bit... but when you wind up recounting for the... 10th time.... and then a basketball from an arcade machine narrowly grazes your eyelashes (oh, did I forget to mention there were all sorts of arcade games for the wee folk to play while they waited for their turn to run rampant in the mazes) ... it's clearly a message that this is not a prime spot for stitching. You needn't pull out the Bugs Bunny mallet.
The music was loud but bearable. Now I keep humming Aerosmith's , Stitchin' On The Edge. (I so feel another poem coming on)
So in case you heard a rumour that this might be a good location to hold a stitch retreat- I checked it out for you. Yeah, that's it - there was reason to my madness! Reasearch. All for the good of the masses.
Clearly I was on a desperate mission. My reputation is at stake. I have stitching to catch upon. Alas I did not get too far in today's project.
But wait! There is good news sayeth this stitcher. My fans you doth need rejoice! (And I don't want to hear about the comfy chairs in that luxurious hotel you're staying at this weekend!)
I finished something last night. :)
I may have made a few changes to the original...
ok lots of changes...
all the floss colours are different,
used some DMC rayon & sparkly Jewel Effects, added different stitches,
and used more of the beads, since there were lots extra.
I was feeling adventurous again.
Will the stitch patrol be after me for not adhering precisely to the pattern?
All is well in Stitchville tonight. The Mill Hills adventures are a calling....
along with some much needed quiet chocolate therapy...
but that's another story.

I am giggling. I will be back many times to read. I am lovin' those hotdog cookies. And I can see those new lyrics sticking in my head! Enjoy that 11 year old--mine will be 18 in May. Time surely does fly!
My youngest turned 11 at the end of last year. It is a sweet age. I had a fun visit here today.

Congrats on the finish! It's always nice to meet another stitcher. We have quite a few mutual friends.
You have a lovely blog. I'm a new follower and participant of 'Grow your Blog'. Have fun at the party!
Evalina, This and that...
I am usually the one in the other corner with crochet hook in hand and yarn bag on the floor next to me. I do so dislike not having my hands busy when I am out. ;)
I love the colors and extra beading on your L*K piece. Would love to be included in the drawing.

you guys are just so nice - thanks for the comments!
Great stitching. Nice to see your beautiful work. And do come to visit my blog, since the party goes on. I have a nice vintage lace book to giveaway. See you there.
Nice to meet you!!
Beautiful stitching!!
Cheers!!
I'm cracking up laughing over here. I didn't stitch when I was going to laser tag but yeah that would be a difficult place to stitch. The place I used to go to was all black lights and at least the white fabric would glow.
Loved reading through your blog. Happy Birthday to your boy. I love that Shark.
I like the changes you made to the Winter stitching. It looks even more lovely like that.
thanks for the lovely compliments... I was act5ually in th elobby, not inside the play area...guess I didn't make that clear... don't know if I would pay to stitch in a black lit room.. could you imagine though using the glow in the dark threads there?? lol
I am making my way through the blog list from the party and just now found yours...you have brought many smiles to my face, and yes I will go back and read all of your posts...well, most of them at least, I promise! It's always fun to meet a fellow stitcher! I would love a chance in your giveaway too...off to follow!
well, you're way ahead of me... I think I only made it through B so far lol... read Jan 16th - it's my fav post :)
Helen, I have now read your blog in order to this point and some of the posts have made me giggle, your beautiful tribute to James made me cry and the thought of winning your give-away made me drool! You do have a finish or two in...but you must learn how to consume chocolate with chop sticks so that your fingers won't touch it and thus enabling you acquire finishes at your usual staccato pace!
Stopping by during the GYB party from Bird Lady Blog.

I can remember getting some seriously strange looks at places I have stitched before, but never a Lazer party - LOL! I am visiting from 2 Bags Full, and I have enjoyed your post. Will become a follower.
Love your stitching! I found you along the GYB hop! So many fun blogs to visit!
